What are you most excited about for the rest of Senior year? Do you have exciting plans after high school? (Use this journal as a way to reflect on this class, your high school career, your plans for the future, etc. Just like you made a post introducing yourself the first week of class, now write a post (with a positive spin) about where you've been and where you plan to go!) During the rest of the school year the thing I'm excited for prom because I couldn't make it last year it'll be my first time. After high school I plan to go to Oakland university then med school after I graduate. After this class I think I will have a good view on what college classes will be like.

The book catcher in the rye was a good book I thought there was good symbolism and twists in the book to keep it interesting.

Explain the irony of language in the novel. Holden swears all the time, yet wants to erase swearing from the school. What does this say about Holden's idea of swearing? Why does it he do it, if he knows it's wrong? How does his swearing make him feel? How does this idea tie into themes in the novel? In the novel Holden swears a lot through the book. Then when he sees swear words on school walls he gets mad and erases it so kids wont see it. He doesn't want kids to loose there innocence. He believes swear words lead into adult hood.

Red hunting hat- When Holden sees her walking toward him, wearing his hat and carrying his suitcase, it makes him realize Phoebe is following directly in his footsteps. This is what makes him change his mind about running away from home. allies glove- it represents Holden’s love for his deceased brother as well as Allie’s authentic uniqueness. Allie covered the glove with poems. so that he would have something to read when things got boring in the baseball field. The ducks in the pond- when a pond freezes the ducks are forced to flee. Ice in the novel represents these pressures in Holden's life closing in on him, forcing him to move on and figure out where to go. Jane: “She kept all her kings in the back row.”- Jane likes to play it safe, which is what Holden likes about her.

"Dear Abby" is an advice column that started in the 1950s. People would write in with their problems and "Abby" would give them advice on what to do. dear LOST IN NY, keep your chin up buttercup. You just need to talk to someone like family or a close friend for advice and insight. You'll be surprised how much vaunting can help. With this girl issue maybe you should just talk to her face to face and tell her how you feel. Hope this helps -wise in allegan

What lies does Holden tell on the train? Why do you think he does this? What does this say about his mental state? Holden tells lies about everything to a woman he meets on a train who is a mother of a kid at his school. He gives her a fake name and talks about how he has a brain tumor. I think he says this because he's a pathological lier who seeks attention.

Holden values Allie's mitt. Write about an artifact that means that much to you. Include details like what it is, what it looks like, where you got it, how long you've have it, where you keep it, who you show it to, why it's important to you, etc. • I have a key chain from one of my best friends that moved to Thailand. It's red and likes like a marble with a Fish in it. My friend jessi gave it to me a few years ago when she was visiting. I have it hanging in my room with a picture of us. I keep it because she was one of my best friends and I rarely get to see her.

Discuss how Holden copes with the world around him. What sorts of things does he do? Why do you think this is the case? What might be better strategies for him to deal with his feelings/ emotions? Holden copes with the world in a calling people names like phonies and meny other things. He believes everyone is a fake. He says these things because he doesn't know how to deal with emotions and gets angry at small things. He should try meditation or things to calm him down and not think so bad of every one else

What did you think of the novel? Give specific details as to what was good and what you thought could have been better. Give constructive feedback not just, "the book was dumb". You will not earn credit for that type of response. I thought the book was very predictable I kinda knew what was going to happen Some of the parts surprised me like the killing of the hound. I do think that this book is a good example of what would happen if books were to be banned.

"What did you learn from yesterday's MeL exercise? How did it shape your plan to research? What topic did you decide on? How did you come to this conclusion? How will you approach researching your topic based on what you learned yesterday and our discussion on credible sources? Be specific." In the Mel exercise i learned that there are some phony websites out there that you have to be careful of. The topic i deiced to research about was illegal immigration. I choose this because I have heard some back stories on this issue so it stuck out to me.With are discussion on credible sources i will be able to deceiver good sites from bad and there was a lot of information about it on the Mel website.
