journal #6

Based on your understanding of salamander, hearth, and sieve, what do you think part II will be about? Use what you know from part 1 and your knowledge of the words in your answer.

I think Montag will read books but he will continue to burn them so he doesn't get caught. Then hes gonna read about something important and hes gonna tell someone about it without realization. Then there going to tell on him and hes gonna get chased out of town or murdered by the robot dog or something like that.

Journal #5

Compare and contrast today’s society to Fahrenheit 451. Be specific. Explain why this might be the case.
In the society of Fahrenheit 451 every one just sits around and watches t.v. all day with out worries and they get all this built up energy causing tension making them depressed. while in our society we have people like this but not all of them we still have a few free birds out there.

Using Clarissa as a model, how many details of today’s society are we blind to? How much do we miss? Explain. Give examples from the book to support your answer.

In today's world I don’t think we miss to much unlike in the story Fahrenheit 451. Where people don’t see anything but what is displayed on there television(s). I think some of the messages Clarissa sends we do miss for example just being in the rain and having it drape around us.

You don’t have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.” –Ray Bradbury
In this quote, I believe that Bradbury is trying to say when people stop reading books is when we become uncivilized and our culture is lost. I agree with his statement.
